Carcassi: Reimagined — Op. 60 Duo Collection

What this is: Carcassi: Reimagined pairs five etudes from Matteo Carcassi’s Op. 60 with a new second-guitar part composed by Troy Gifford. This isn’t a public-domain arrangement circulating in a dozen other editions — Gifford’s second-guitar part is an original composition written to sit alongside Carcassi’s original line, not simply harmonize it. The resulting guitar duo is performed and recorded by Dr. Sam Desmet and Troy Gifford, with recordings available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Pandora, and other streaming platforms.

What’s included

All 5 reimagined etudes as guitar-duo parts: Nos. 2, 3, 7, 8, and 10
Format: one combined PDF collection (all 5 duos in a single file)
Includes the original Carcassi solo line for reference — each piece is presented as a full two-stave score (Guitar I = Carcassi’s original line, Guitar II = Gifford’s new part)

Hear it first

Three of these five etudes (Nos. 7, 8, and 10) already have duo recordings released as part of the ongoing Carcassi: Reimagined project, performed by Sam Desmet and Troy Gifford — listen before you buy. More context on the project is on the Stream page and the Carcassi: Reimagined project page.

Press & context

Etudes Nos. 7, 8, and 10 have each been featured in Fingerstyle Guitar Journal. Free critical editions of all five source etudes for solo guitar, recorded separately by Sam Desmet, are also available on this site individually, if you’d like to see where the project started.

How this is sold

This collection is sold as one complete set, not per etude — the five pieces were conceived and recorded as a series, and the collection price reflects the full set.

FAQ

Can I buy individual etudes instead of the full collection?
No — the duo arrangements are sold only as the complete 5-etude collection. (Free solo-guitar critical editions of the individual etudes are available separately, without the second-guitar part.)

What guitar level is this?
Intermediate.

Do I need the solo edition first?
No — this collection includes everything needed to play the duo arrangement, including the original Carcassi solo line for reference.
