Wabi Sabi Duo LIVE @ Miami Guitar Festival

The third edition of the Miami International Guitar Festival took place at the Florida International University. The Wabi Sabi duo performed Leo Brouwer’s “Mitología de las Aguas”.

Other artists on the festival included: Marcin Dylla, Iliana Matos, Eduardo Martin, Adam Levin, Carlos Raphaël Rivera, and many more…

FROM THE MUSIC SCORE:

This Sonata is an imaginary walk through the mythical Amazon from Los Pasos Perdidos by Alejo Carpentier, Lake of the Mayans and many cascades and huge waterfalls: Tequendama, Iguazú, el Ángel…

The cascades of sounds that characterize the music from Elogio de la Danza (1964) or Per suonare a due (1972) have nothing to do with this vision of the waters; Brouwer explains he never liked to imitate sounds of the nature -which is inimitate in itself- but the analogies, if they are found, are an option for the audience.

Here meanwhile, you will hear sound textures which, as in all of Brouwer’s music, is Sum of opposites: activity and rest, tropical forest and clear waters, straight arrows male and female soft curves…
